The Infor.pl portal reminds us that new fees for vehicle technical inspections will take effect on Friday, September 19th . The Ministry of Infrastructure argues that they have been designed to be balanced and fair for both vehicle inspection station operators and drivers themselves.
This is also the first major price change in over two decades. For 20 years, Poland had some of the lowest fees in Europe.
During this time, as the ministry points out, the costs of running a business have increased significantly - from employee salaries, through property and utility maintenance, to the operation and legalization of diagnostic devices.
Furthermore, significant technological changes have taken place in the automotive industry itself. Modern vehicles are packed with electronics, and hybrid and electric vehicles have emerged. All of this has required businesses to invest in skills development and diagnostic facilities.
From PLN 76 to PLN 269. This is how much the fees for vehicle technical inspections will increase. The most significant change concerns passenger cars. Effective September 19, the fee for a technical inspection of such vehicles will increase by PLN 51, from PLN 98 to PLN 149.
Rates for other types of inspections will increase proportionally. The full list of new fees is as follows:
- motorcycle and agricultural tractor - PLN 94,
- moped - PLN 76,
- trucks and special vehicles, tractor units with a GVW of 3.5-16 t - PLN 234,
- trucks and special vehicles, tractor units over 16 t - PLN 269,
- truck and special trailers up to 3.5 t - PLN 119,
- vehicles with gas installation - additional specialist inspection PLN 96, which in the case of a passenger car gives a total of PLN 245.
According to Minister Dariusz Klimczak, even after the increase, the new fees will still be among the lowest in Europe, and their level is a compromise between market needs and the financial possibilities of citizens.
Infor.pl reminds that the regulation introducing new fees related to running vehicle inspection stations and conducting technical inspections of vehicles has already been published in the Journal of Laws, which means that they are not just an announcement.
It also points out that the lack of a valid technical inspection may result in a fine of PLN 1,500 to PLN 5,000 and confiscation of the registration certificate, and in extreme cases even taking the case to court.
