Shakira cancels her Texas concert due to structural problems

Colombian singer Shakira canceled her Friday the 13th concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio , Texas, citing " infrastructure issues ."

As previously happened in Medellín and Chile , where structural failures were cited as the reason for the shows' suspension, the production claims that safety is not guaranteed in the American city.

Following this situation, which sparked complaints from fans at the stadium and an angry reaction on social media, the " Waka Waka " singer spoke out on her Instagram stories, posting a photo of the structure.

"In order to perform in each city, we rely on a third party to locally provide the infrastructure to support the stage and roof from which my production hangs. It gives me great sadness to inform you of what I have been told: that due to a structural issue with a truss provided by this third-party company to support my stage, we are forced to reschedule my sold-out show in San Antonio , originally scheduled for tonight, June 13th."

"After an issue with the structure of this company in Boston , I personally demanded the addition of a new group of engineers and met directly with the company so they could thoroughly re-evaluate it. After a detailed review, the company's experts and engineers personally promised me they had strengthened the structure and gave me 100% assurances about the safety and reliability of the show going forward," he added.

She said that not being able to perform tonight affects her deeply, as well as her fans in San Antonio . "I'm here devastated and heartbroken. Our shows will continue in Houston starting Monday, and I'm trying to find a solution to reschedule this show in San Antonio in the coming days," she concluded.

From the outset, the "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour" has left thousands of fans without the opportunity to enjoy the stage proposal the artist has designed in the wake of her latest album, which focuses on her separation and healing process from Gerard Piqué.

• From the US tour, the first cancellations were at Fenway Park and Nationals Park, in Boston and Washington, respectively. This Friday, June 13, they also announced the postponement of the Los Angeles concert , and now this one in Texas has been added.

The problem in Boston was due to "unforeseen circumstances" about which no further details were given, but it was emphasized that the artist was not involved and that the responsibility lay with the stadium .

This in turn led to the cancellation of the next show in Washington because the production had difficulty getting to the US capital from Boston on time due to the complications that arose.

"Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am saddened and pained to not be able to be with you tomorrow in Washington, DC. I hope to return to Washington DC as soon as possible. In the meantime, please know that I am eternally grateful for your unconditional support," Shakira said in a statement released by the EFE news agency.

The Los Angeles concert , which was scheduled for June 20, was postponed due to protests against immigration raids being carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Incidentally, this is the only one with a new date announced : it has been moved to August 4.
