A civil guard slaps a detainee in Mallorca and now has to pay almost 400 euros for it

A Civil Guard agent was found guilty on Tuesday, February 25, of a minor offense of physical abuse for slapping a woman who was being held in the cells. For this reason, the aggressor will have to pay almost 400 euros for the assault. This is according to information published by Última Hora .

The events occurred on August 19, 2022 in the town of Calvià, in Mallorca. While in custody, the woman asked the officer guarding her if she could go to the bathroom. He agreed, however, upon leaving the cell, the two began to argue and the officer reacted violently.

Request The prosecution demanded a sentence of 8 months in prison and the disqualification of the agent.

The Civil Guard grabbed the detainee by the arm, took her back to the cell and, while she protested about what was happening, he slapped her. These events were recorded by the facilities' cameras and the victim filed a complaint.

The trial was held yesterday, Tuesday 25 February, in a criminal court in Palma, where the accused admitted the facts and a sentence was agreed: the payment of a fine of 360. This was agreed between the Prosecutor's Office and the agent's lawyer, Daniel Castro.

Initially, the prosecution had requested an eight-month prison sentence for the officer, accused of a crime of degrading treatment committed by a public official. In addition, it had also requested that the officer be disqualified, that is, expelled from the police force. However, as the victim had no injuries, his sentence was reduced to paying the fine. The victim was compensated by the officer.
