Viña del Mar Festival suspended on Tuesday after blackout in Chile

The failure of one of the three electrical transmission systems, which generates 500 KV in the northern Chico region, left 99% of Chile without electricity on Tuesday and once again shows the strategic weakness of the trans-Andean country in this strategic sector, which is practically privatized.
In light of the power outage that occurred in the country, the Viña del Mar International Festival published a statement on its social media announcing that tonight's show was suspended and will be rescheduled for next Saturday, March 1.
"We deeply regret to have to inform you that, due to the state of emergency declared by the Chilean Government, tonight's shows will have to be rescheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2025. We know how much you have been waiting for this moment and how important it is for you, so we want to assure you that the confirmed artists and comedian will be present on the new date, keeping the same schedule," it reads.
The power outage occurred at around 3:15 p.m. local time (6:15 p.m. GMT), leaving millions of people without power, forcing banks, businesses and shops to close and causing enormous traffic chaos amid the severe heat wave in the country, where this service is privatized.
