On Saturday night, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco walked the red carpet at the 5th annual Academy Museum Gala. The newly wedded couple was enjoying their first official appearance since their marriage in September and they signaled just how connected they are with matching looks.
Gomez was wearing a long black velvet column gown by Armani Privé under a black tuxedo jacket. The gown’s neckline was decorated with a sweep of rhinestones. In her ears, the Rare Beauty founder was wearing dangling diamond De Beers earrings. She had her hair back in a sleek chignon and wore red lipstick for a pop of color. Blanco was in black velvet as well, a two-piece suit over a smokey blue silk shirt. He paired his ensemble with black loafers and an array of necklaces.
The annual event raises money for public programming and other museum initiatives, like exhibitions. There is also a list of annual honorees, which this year included Bruce Springsteen, Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, and Bowen Yang.
Gomez and Blanco were married on September 27 in Montecito, California. Gomez wore a number of looks throughout the epic wedding weekend, including four wedding dresses by Ralph Lauren. The guest list was almost as star-studded as the museum gala, including Paris Hilton, SZA, Zoe Saldaña, Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and many more.
A source told Us Weekly at the time that the couple wrote their own vows and things got pretty emotional.
“Everyone there was sobbing, and it was extremely emotional,” they said, adding that Gomez “bawled her eyes out” during Blanco’s “heartfelt and sweet” vows.
