Charity bingo so that Juanita, the girl who moved the country, can have hand surgery in Barcelona.

A new countdown has begun for beloved Juanita Ghiotti Dávila (6), the girl from Mendoza who, with her unique story, moved mountains - if we have to talk about solidarity . In 2023 , the little girl underwent four different operations on her hands and arms , all in Barcelona , all in order to regain mobility and, in this way, improve her quality of life . But now the little girl needs a new operation , which, if all goes well, would be permanent. So, once again, people's solidarity is the family's great hope .
On June 29 , Juanita , her parents - Ruth and Franco - and her brother - Francesco - have a date to travel again to Catalan lands. There, on July 22 , Juani will be operated on again by the specialist doctor, and then she will have to stay six more months in Barcelona and complete, in this way, the post-operative period and the corresponding controls .

In order to raise funds so that the family can travel again - they need 68 million pesos to cover all expenses - on June 8 , together with the Municipality of Las Heras , they will hold a bingo game at the Vicente Polimeni stadium and sports center.
" The cards have already gone on sale and we are looking for the prizes . 3,000 cards will be printed at 2,000 pesos each , and there will be six runs ," said "Rula" , as Juanita 's mother is affectionately known.
Of the 68 million pesos Juanita 's family needs to raise, they have just over half . Once again, they've achieved this goal thanks to the solidarity of the people of Mendoza (and people from other provinces as well), who have collaborated with the cause so Juanita can regain mobility in her hands .
From Buenos Aires , Andy Kusnetzoff himself - with his program "Perros de la Calle" - has been one of the participants in the call.

Now, for the final push in the charity campaign, the Ghiotti Dávila family is betting on bingo .

Juanita was born with bilateral radial agenesis and manobottomism , a malformation in both of her hands that had gone undetected during her mother's pregnancy. When the girl was born, tests were performed and it was confirmed that the condition was not genetic , but rather caused by a malformation during pregnancy . Furthermore, the little girl was born with only one kidney .
Following the situation with both of her hands, Juanita and her parents traveled to Santiago del Estero on January 2 , 2023. By then, Franco and Ruth had already researched all the available information about Juanita 's condition and had found Dr. Francisco Soldado, a Spanish specialist and a leading expert in pediatric hand, plexus, and microsurgery.

Ruth and Franco learned about an operation that would allow Juanita to stretch her arms a little further , improve her mobility, and optimize her quality of life . Taking advantage of the fact that the specialist had traveled to Santiago del Estero to welcome 2023 as part of one of the many initiatives his foundation carries out in different countries, Juanita and her parents traveled to see him.
Every time he travels, Soldado examines boys and girls with symptoms in their hands , and there he decides if they can undergo surgery and, if feasible, whether to do it in Argentina or Spain . When the doctor examined the girl from Mendoza , he confirmed that the operation could be performed, although they would have to travel to Spain . Thus began the development of Juanita's first trip .
Because for that first trip and that first operation —which, due to various unforeseen circumstances, ended up being four —the family needed the help of the people of Mendoza . And the impact of their story was such that it transcended the borders of Mendoza and received help from all over the country and the world.
In addition to the initial stretch , which she couldn't adapt to—part of her calf bone had been removed from one leg to be replaced in her left hand , but the bone transplant was rejected —the girl underwent wrist centralization and index finger thumb realignment . The latter was performed on her right hand , which she currently has the best control over .
"One of the many operations in 2023 was a bone transplant to give her arms more stretch . But her body rejected it , and doctors diagnosed her with Pyoderma Gangrenosum , a rare disorder that causes large, painful ulcers to appear on the skin," Ruth explained to Los Andes a few weeks ago .

Due to this unforeseen event—which left the girl with wounds that took a long time to heal and oozed fluid and pus—it was necessary to reverse the procedure and remove the transplanted bone .
Now, the same doctor who operated on the little girl in Barcelona has offered Juanita a repeat operation , this time knowing the full situation, having the necessary antibiotics and following everything in detail to prevent the infection from recurring. This operation will allow her to stretch her arms 7 centimeters further , with a result that will be even more beneficial than the one expected in 2023 .
The particular circumstances of each family member mean that, inevitably, the four of them have to be permanently together . Because, in addition to Juanita 's situation, Ruth is diabetic and often has some decompensations , while her husband Franco , suffers from a kidney disease. Francesco , Juanita's older brother, suffers from nephrotic syndrome , which is why he periodically suffers relapses that lead him to need hospitalization and to be given corticosteroids . In short, the four of them need to be together, at all times and in any place.
