Books for everyone: Discover the new releases from the 2025 Children's and Young Adult Book Fair

The 33rd Children's and Young Adult Book Fair 2025 got off to a good start this winter break , with a variety of activities and workshops for children ages 0 to 5, school-age children, and teenagers at the Palacio Libertad (Sarmiento 151, Buenos Aires). Every day from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with free admission until Sunday, August 3 , when the "vacations" end.
What are the main new features at the Fair? Clarín toured the stands located in the central hall and found a good variety of books published this year for all ages, including those for all audiences and all age groups. These are educational books that convey messages and lessons about how to bring out hidden talents, how to break down stereotypes, integration, and identity, among other topics. Most come with large text and illustrations and are generally priced under 25,000 pesos .
It's worth noting that the only current promotion at the Fair is from Banco Provincia , which offers a 10% discount on credit card payments up to 6 interest-free installments . Payments can also be made with cash, debit cards, QR codes, virtual wallets, and other cards.
Calibroscopio (stand 27), specializing in children's and young adult literature and illustrated books, has several new offerings. One of them is El Punto (The Point ), with text and illustrations by Peter Reynolds and translated by Laura Wittner, which tells the story of how to dare to do things, to unleash the talent and creativity that a child possesses. For ages 3-4 and up, priced at $19,900.
There's also Big Bang (with text by Florencia Gattari and illustrations by Marina Zanollo), which describes a more plausible theory about the origin and evolution of the universe, its beginnings, the origin of the chicken and the egg, and what really happened: "it all started with a grain of corn. In other words, it wasn't the chicken and the egg," the author says. To read it and find out what it's all about, for $21,900,

Another new release is "Stories with Girls and Boys and Some Other Wild Creatures ," by Colombian author Jairo Buitrago, with illustrations by Argentine author Mariana Ruiz Johnson. It's six short, humorous stories for children ages 5 and 6, and for 7 and 8 to read independently. The price? $16,900.
The Capybaras tells the story of this little animal, as well as friendship, alliances between friends, facing external dangers, and how the animals featured in the book can work together to overcome these challenges. This book by Alfredo Soderguit is a co-edition of Ediciones Ecaré (Venezuela and Spain) and Calibroscopio Ediciones, for children ages 4 and up, and costs $12,500.
Miradas is another of Calibroscopio's major offerings, written by Higo Wu and Chen Feishui. It's a highly poetic book that explores the perspective of the new and the old through different stages of life: what it means to be a child or an adult in a new and old world. The back cover says: "The world is very new, and our perspective is still very young." Suitable for all ages, it comes with illustrations and can be read in landscape format, for $22,900.
There are more new releases, such as Petit in: I'm Going to Make My Own Money!, by Isol, Fernando Salem, and Bernardita Ojeda. Based on Paka-Paka, it would be the fifth episode of the children's series starring Petit and his friends, and it sells for $12,000.
On the other hand, Federico is a series starring a cat and featuring various adventures. In 2025, they launched two more titles: Where Did You Go Last Night, Federico? and Federico, Why Don't You Go Out to the Garden ? with text and illustrations by Leo Arias. Ideal for reading with babies ages two and up. They cost $17,400 each.
Riderchail (Stand 47) has the new release of Furia , by Rodrigo Ures with illustrations by Alejandro O´Kif , former author of Revista Humor, author of the covers of Billiken in the 90s. The book is ideal for working on bullying from the perspective of the person who suffers bullying in the first person.

“ It's a topic of bullying. What's great is validating the emotions the protagonist feels. The illustrations in the book are from the perspective of the child, from within the child who is being bullied. The reader sees what the child sees and tells him what he feels,” the author told Clarín .
Fury is for school-aged children, and is also intended to provide support for their parents and teachers in both reading and understanding the situation. It costs $15,800.
"It's a book that's both literature and art, and it can also stir emotions and generate dialogue, both for the bullied child and the one doing the bullying. It gives the opportunity to take both sides and generate debate ," Ures advised.
Damasquito , also by Ures, tells the story of an apricot that wants to be a peach but ends up as jam. “It's a theme of transformation. There's also the issue of kids' identity when they want to be something they're not. Here I work on the identity of growing kids,” the author emphasized. The book comes with illustrations by Héctor Borlasca. It's priced at $12,800.
Meanwhile, My Magic Book , by Jaquelina Romero with illustrations by Elizabeth Mallet: the little girl received a book as a gift and there she begins to discover different universes and adventures while learning to read. For children of early reading age, priced at $15,800.
Lucía Wants to Be a Monster (by Melania Montalto with illustrations by Lu Paul) tells the story of a girl who is born fully human into a family of monsters. "They are afraid that something will happen to her because she is different until she reaches school: there, her grandmother seeks a solution to prevent conflicts between monsters and humans," explains Riderchail. The book addresses the issues of identity, differences, and integration . For children ages 4-7, priced at $15,800.

Imaginador Publishing (stand 12) has a very varied catalog. For example, there's the 200 Puzzle Games collection: these are activity books for children, sorted by age (4-5 years old or 6, 7, 8, and 9 years old) and come with coloring pencils as a gift. The price? $9,900. These books include word searches, coloring books, dot-to-dot puzzles, mazes, and other games.
There's also the Ask Me collection: one page has questions with multiple choices, and the other has answers. These books are themed or age-specific, from 4-5 years old and 10-11 years old and up. They cost $7,800 (for the smallest books) and $10,600 (for the "XL" collection, for the older ones).
Sigmar Publishing (stand 16) has several titles from the Primeros Aprendizajes collection, written by Ana Belén Farías and María del Rosario Vocos Conesa with illustrations by Leticia Masarachio. Cuando me enojo (When I Get Angry) addresses the emotions of each child. Cuando se enlarge la familia (When the Family Grows) refers to the anticipation of the arrival of a new member, a baby, or a new sibling. The book offers tips for children to cope with this situation. Yo hago pee y caca en el inodoro (I Pee and Poop in the Toilet) is a self-help book for children learning to use the bathroom alone and begin to potty train. Ideal for boys and girls ages 3 and up, for $17,900 each.
Sigmar offers more new releases, such as A Furry One in Training by Verónica Manolio, which addresses fears: Julepe is a fear that, on the planet where he lives, is afraid of fears and teaches children how to confront those fears. It comes with text in lowercase print and illustrations by Andrés Alejandro Gallelli. For children three and up, priced at $16,900.

Another interesting book is Princess Mora Doesn't Wear Pink , by Valeria Dávila, with illustrations by Caru Grossi. It tells the story of Princess Mora, who isn't a classic princess since she doesn't like to wear pink, but she does like to play ball . It's a book that doesn't cater to girl stereotypes. It comes with rhyming text and costs $17,900.
Likewise, there's The Prince Doesn't Want to Be Blue, Rather Striped , also by Valeria Dávila with illustrations by Caru Grossi, for $17,900. It's for boys and girls ages five and up, and attempts to break gender stereotypes through their respective stories.
Editorial Del Naranjo (stand 17) targets children and young adults (ages 3 and up, elementary school, teens, and high school). The Quiquitos collection is for the little ones. It includes titles such as A la Una, a las Dos, a las Tres, Era un zapato de duende, Antonio y su Bliguibiki, Te nombro , and Colores. These are illustrated books for children 1 and 2 years old, so they can enjoy them with their parents and handle them, for $12,500 each.
Meanwhile, the Saffron Moon collection is Naranjo's best-selling collection, for children ages 4 and up. These books feature colorful, eye-catching illustrations. They include titles such as Here and There, Love in the Library, Animal with All the Letters, Colorín Colorado, Like a Monkey, The Comb and Tini, Pérez the Mouse and His Dirty Boy, Julia Dreams, Ema Dreams, Dragon Ice Cream, and Little Goat . Most are written in block capitals and sell for $18,000 each.
New releases include: Why Elephants Prefer to Play Tag, with texts by Silvina Rocha and illustrations by Mey. Here, the mouse, the bee, the cat, and the elephant play hide-and-seek. A book that invites 4- and 5-year-olds to play and think, for $21,000.

There are more new releases, such as "Pesqué la luna" (I Caught the Moon) by Cecilia Pisos, for $18,000; "Un abrazo guardada " (A Saved Embrace) by Verónica Parodi, for $20,000; and "Colorín Colorado " by Mario Méndez, for $18,000. The books in the Cocos series, on the other hand, cost $19,000.
Gaturro is one of the most beloved characters among children. The complete collection can be purchased at Ediciones de la Flor (stand 48) for $12,300 each. Also available there is the comic book Ultra Zombies (by Pablo Hernández), released this year, for boys and girls ages 7 and up, for $11,200. In addition, little ones can get the six volumes of Dante Elefante (by JJ Rovella), with illustrations and no text, for $15,590.
Meanwhile, at stand 2 of the Argentine Writers Society (SADE), there are books with texts and illustrations by Sarah Mulligan for different ages: Ducks in the Water (ages 0-4), priced at $7,000; The Boy with the Fire Heart and Other Stories (ages 7-11), and The Boy with River Eyes and Other Stories (ages 7-12), both priced at $14,000.
Upon entering the Fair is Basílico (stand 3), which offers classic books at very good prices , with classics in editions adapted for school-age children (from 6 years old) such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (Julio Verne), Gulliver's Travels (Jonathan Swift), The Odyssey (Homer), Treasure Island or Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (both by Robert Stevenson). All come with illustrations. They can be 2 for $10,000.

The children's category offers a wide variety of titles. There are books and magazines about the World Cup and others about Star Wars , and some come with dolls and soccer jerseys. Prices vary from one for $6,000 to three for $10,000.
El Túnel Libros (stand 49) also has offers. Some titles: The Ghost of Talcual, Animal Bookstore, Reading Camp, Reading Picnic, 101 Short Stories about Marvelous Animals, What the Swallows Say, Disney Princess in Color, Magical Unicorn, and Literary Safari for $15,000. There's also a two-pack for $25,000.
At Ediciones Colihue (stand 33) , they have promos for two books for $9,500 or one for $5,900 for beginning readers (ages 4-5) written in capital letters, in verse and rhyme. They also have illustrations. They can be: Queen Tantrum, Tango of the Vow, The Lion's Birthday, The Complaining Princess, A Song to Put Macarena to Sleep or The Crying Giant (all by Oche Califa); I Don't Want Ghosts! The Carrier Pigeon (both by Nilda Lacabe); Bablacademia, Three Ears, Two Noses, The Pirate Queteataco, The Grumbling Book, ZZZZZZZZ or Zooloquero (Cristina Colombo).
There's also the "Natural Tales" collection: a selection of small books about native Argentine animals illustrated by Chanti, for $6,300. They include: The Puma, The Penguin, The Anteater, The Whale, The Guanaco, The Armadillo, The Lizard, The Rhea, The Plover, and The Blue Maned Owl . At the end of each story, there's information about the animal described. The book is for young readers, also with capital letters and limited text, from very young ages up to 8-9 years old.

It's the most requested genre for children ages 12 and up. At OVNI (stand 8), the best-seller is El Eternauta , the classic by Héctor Oesterheld, a huge hit on Netflix, for $34,900. Next up are Watchmen (a comic book classic, for $29,000) and Superman's Kindome Come ($38,000): it comes with a hardcover and illustrated paperback. They are all Argentine editions.
Speaking of Argentine authors, the same stand also features the new version of the comics Patoruzú, Patoruzito, and Isidoro, from the Dante Quinterno collection, for $14,000 each; and the series Mega 1, Mega 2, and Mega 3, by writer and cartoonist Salvador Sanz. Each book costs $15,000. Also on offer is Angela de la muerte ($18,000) and El esqueleto ($14,000), by the same author. These are comics about Buenos Aires and its surrounding areas, in which Sanz depicts scenes such as those at the La Plata Museum of Natural Sciences.
As for manga, there are Vinland Saga series 1, 2, 3, 3, 5, and 6 about Vikings , for $16,000 each. Chapter 7 is out of stock. There are also the small volumes of Attack on Titan , a Netflix series, in black and white, for $8,000.
Younger children often seek out Spiderman comics . That's why OVNI is offering the first Marvel Spider-Man comic, with simple illustrations and large capital letters so parents can read it with them, for $17,800. There are also Nightwing comics, the DC character most sought after by teens, for $18,000, for any of the six volumes.
