The Italian Obesity Network is born, it uses Artificial Intelligence

In Italy, 46% of adults are in overweight or obese and this condition exposes you to a risk high risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular diseases and mental disorders. To address this challenge in a systemic way, also making the best use of the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence, the Federation of health and hospital companies (Fiaso) has promoted the Italian Obesity Network, a permanent platform dedicated to prevention, treatment and innovation against which the World Health Organization itself considers one of the most serious health emergencies. The initiative is in addition to the work started by the ministry of Health for the inclusion of obesity in the levels essential assistance (Lea) with the aim of recognising it and treat it as a real chronic disease. "Intervening on this condition means preventing many diseases and ensure the sustainability of the health system. In In this context, artificial intelligence represents a strategic tool: it allows us to analyze data in a way predictive and to build personalized interventions, timely", declares Giovanni Migliore, president of Fiaso. The Federation proposes an integrated vision based on six pillars. First of all, territorial prevention, with the involvement of municipalities, schools and sports clubs, united to the use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence. So the training of health professionals and the creation of personalized care pathways. Finally, partnerships public-private and One Health approach, which connects health, environment and lifestyles. "With this initiative - concludes Migliore - Fiaso relaunches a decisive challenge: to transform the fight against obesity in a concrete opportunity to improve health, equity and sustainability of our health system".
