Lego’s New Game Boy Set Is Selling Fast

We make no apologies for our love of Lego. We're adults, so if we want to build a 693-piece replica of the McLaren-Honda MP4/4, mind your own business. Building movie favorites from LOTR or Star Wars? Bring it, a peak rainy day activity.
So when Nintendo announced that Game Boy—the original, first-gen Game Boy—will exist in Lego form come October 1, our inner gamer hearts skipped a beat. Lego.com's preorder already sold out, but you can still secure yours on Amazon. For now.
Anyone who remembers holding this particular gaming console for the first time can attest that this is nostalgia at its finest. And Lego hasn't spared a detail. Just like the original, this 1:1 replica build includes a control pad, A and B buttons, SELECT and START buttons, and the contrast and volume dials. There's also a slot in which to put two buildable Game Paks that come with the set: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Super Mario Land. Once built, you can display it with the Nintendo, Zelda, or Mario start screen.
You can't put a price on nostalgia anyway, but for $60, you really shouldn't even be debating adding Game Boy to your adult Lego collection. Retro Lego sets sell fast, so don't go waiting until October. Preorder it now, gift it for the holidays, or crack it open yourself and make a new desk decoration while your Zoom camera is off.
