Is <em>The Rehearsal</em> Coming Back for Season 3?

The great Nathan Fielder has never been higher. In the second season of HBO's acclaimed docu-comedy series The Rehearsal, the former small business consultant examined what he deems as a widespread communication gap between airline pilots. It's a worthy undertaking, as Fielder credibly argues that a statistical majority of aviation disasters occur because copilots are afraid to speak up. Despite the infamously rigorous training all pilots must undergo to become flight certified, Fielder asserts that they are never instructed in communication to any meaningful degree.

So, season 2 of The Rehearsal is predicated on the unfamiliarity between captains and first mates. After all, they're the ones who fly hundreds of passengers thousands of feet in the air to safety—it's probably a good idea if they actually know how to talk to each other. And if you don't think a show about this could be funny, well, you haven't seen Wings of Voice.

But when it comes to news of a third season, there is just as much radio silence. Here's everything we know so far about the future of The Rehearsal on HBO.

As of this writing, The Rehearsal has not received the green light for a third season. That said, no news might actually be good news. We promise.

See, back in August 2022, The Rehearsal was renewed for its second season—a full two months after the show's June 2022 premiere on HBO. While it's true some shows receive a season renewal right away, The Rehearsal may be a special exception due to its unscripted nature and the unfathomable resources Fielder requires to pull off each season . (All those actors? All those sets? All those pets?!) Though the show is a critical smash, its performance on HBO (and/or HBO Max) versus its overall cost of production may have Warner Bros. accountants sweating through their collars.

In short, it'll be awhile before we know if The Rehearsal will take flight for another season, or if this has been the last we've seen of Fielder's elaborate ruses.
