Ozone pollution episode in the Rhône: first alert level activated

An episode of ozone pollution is underway in the Rhône and in the Lyon metropolitan area.
The Rhône prefecture has activated the information-recommendation level starting Thursday, June 20th due to an episode of ozone pollution linked to extreme heat. The measure affects the entire Rhône department and the Lyon metropolitan area.
No restrictions are currently in place, but authorities recommend that vulnerable people (children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses) limit physical exertion and travel during the hottest hours.
The entire population is encouraged to take steps to reduce pollution: favoring soft or public transport, reducing driving speed, and avoiding intensive use of air conditioning.
Local authorities, industrialists, and farmers are also being asked to temporarily adapt their most polluting activities. The burning of green waste remains prohibited, as does the circulation of Crit'Air 3, 4, 5, and unclassified vehicles in the Lyon ZFE.
