Grande Conche Beach: children aged 7 to 12 trained in first aid

Children will be able to take part in interactive activities offered by sea rescuers on Friday, July 18 in Royan, in the afternoon.
Macif and the lifeguards of the National Sea Rescue Society are meeting children aged 7 to 12 on the Grande Conche beach in Royan on Friday, July 18, starting at 2:30 p.m., with one goal: to teach them lifesaving techniques.
Indeed, while summer is synonymous with relaxation and swimming, it's also a risky time. Last week, Public Health France announced that more than a hundred people had died by drowning since the beginning of June, an increase of more than 50% since 2024.
Through free interactive activities, participating children will be able to acquire an initial understanding of first aid. Since the launch of the Mini-Lifeguards program in 2018, more than 8,220 children and 15,000 caregivers have already been trained. A Mini-Lifeguard prevention kit will be given to each participating child at the end of the awareness workshops.
