The Boccaccio years

The Boccaccio years

In 1963, when the club was founded in the suburbs of Ghent, nothing suggested that the aura of Boccaccio would become legendary. The Belgian equivalent in the mythology of clubbing of Paradise Garage, Haçienda or Palace. At the end of the 80s, its dancefloor attracted a whole audience from Belgium but also France and Germany, who came to succumb to the still fledgling house and techno. It was even in what was then the largest club in northern Europe with its unique laser show, that new beat was born, a minimal mix of dance music and industrial. But this is not the only style honored in this monumental compilation produced by the club's historic DJs Olivier Pieters (who was a resident there) and Stefaan Vandenberghe . On four CDs or ten vinyls, you can hear forty raw and groovy tracks from the pioneers of American and European techno and house (from Robert Armani to LFO, including Frank de Wulf and Age of Chance). Like the summary of a (pre)history whose beat still resonates today.
