Mission: Impossible: A cult series long before Tom Cruise's films

Mission: Impossible isn't just about Tom Cruise and his stunts. The franchise's journey actually began 62 years ago on television, before being adapted for the big screen.
Long before it was adapted for film, the Mission: Impossible franchise was a hit on television in the 1960s as a cult series, notably thanks to its explosive music. While it's now associated with films starring Tom Cruise , aka Ethan Hunt, as the main character, we shouldn't forget the origins of this cinematic phenomenon.
Each episode invariably began the same way. A secret location, a tape recorder, and those few iconic words that allowed everyone to instantly identify Mission: Impossible: "This mission, if you accept it." In France, the series was a huge success, to the point that its opening sequence was familiar to everyone in France, not even those who had seen neither the films nor the series.
