Gérard Depardieu targeted by investigation for aggravated tax fraud

Gérard Depardieu has been the subject of an investigation, notably for aggravated tax fraud, since 2024, Franceinfo learned on Monday, February 24, from a judicial source, confirming an investigation by Mediapart . This source adds that the preliminary investigation opened in February 2024 also concerns facts of laundering of aggravated tax fraud, committed since 2013.

Searches were carried out on 11 February in France and Belgium by investigators from the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Tax Offences (OCLCIFF) and Belgian judicial authorities, as part of a European investigation decision.

The investigation entrusted to the National Brigade for the Suppression of Delinquency (BNRDF) began following repeated denunciations by the tax authorities. Gérard Depardieu has not been heard at this stage of the investigation.
