EXHIBITION - The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles is lending a selection of its modern works to the institution that continues its mission, two years after the death of its founder.
Good news: the art foundation created in his hometown by the Swiss collector, patron, and academician Léonard Gianadda , in the heart of the Swiss Valais, in Martigny, continues. This goes beyond the latter's death, which occurred at the end of 2023. One of his sons, François, takes over, faithful here to a remarkable cultural dynamism.
Indeed, since its opening in 1979, the building, designed by his engineer father - an austere concrete cube but enhanced by a rich sculpture garden as well as a collection of vintage cars housed in the basement - has hosted dozens of temporary exhibitions, often of international standing. Always in harmony with this, there are symphonic concerts and prestigious recitals, such as those of Cecilia Bartoli in recent days.
