Sixteen artists will compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest this Thursday in Basel, Switzerland. Ten will be voted in by the public to advance to the final of the world's biggest talent show on Saturday, May 17.
They will be joined by the 10 candidates chosen on Tuesday during the first semi-final, as well as Switzerland, which as the host country is automatically selected, and the artists representing the "Big 5", the countries that contribute the most financially (Germany, Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom) . There will therefore be 26 of them performing in succession on Saturday evening.
Among the "Big 5", it is the Frenchwoman Louane who is best placed with her song "Maman" , in third position to win, according to the bettors. For the first time, the scores of the selected artists remain secret to avoid distorting the competition.
The evening will be broadcast on television on France 4 (channel 14 of TNT) from 9 p.m. and will be commentated by Stéphane Bern.
Australia will be the first to enter the competition, followed by Montenegro, Ireland, Latvia, Armenia, Austria, Greece, Lithuania, Malta, Georgia, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Israel, Serbia and Finland.
Louane, who has already qualified, will perform her song between Georgia and Denmark. It's a sort of grand rehearsal for the 28-year-old singer before the final on Saturday.
