2025 Agricultural Show: Sauerkraut Makes Its Debut at the General Agricultural Competition

At the Salon de l'Agriculture Porte de Versailles, on the morning of Monday, February 24, a tasting with a very special flavor took place. For the first time, sauerkraut is presented at the general agricultural competition. At the Alsace stand, its local supporters came out in force. And the traditional Alsatian dish is unanimously appreciated at the table of visitors from Gard.
Behind the stoves, there is the Muller family who have been specialists in sauerkraut for five generations. The Mullers are candidates for the competition this year. “It must be thin, long, white and of course worked with love and know-how,” explains Josiane Muller.
In total, there will be 11 candidates who will submit two kilos of their sauerkraut to the jury. The vegetable is only concerned in two categories: cooked cabbage and raw cabbage. In Bas-Rhin, samples were randomly selected from the candidates, then they were sealed 10 days ago.
