Pope Francis authorizes canonization of Venezuelan José Gregorio Hernández: here are the reasons

In the last few hours, the Vatican announced that Pope Francis has authorized the canonization of Venezuelan José Gregorio Hernández.

This is how he will now become the first saint of Venezuela , while the Supreme Pontiff is hospitalized in the Gemelli hospital in Rome due to bilateral pneumonia, the Vatican reported on Tuesday.

Francis also signed the decree during a visit to him by the Vatican Secretary of State , Pietro Parolin, and the deputy Secretary of State, Venezuelan Edgar Peña Parra.
