Ahead of the Oscars, Ariana Grande Riffs on Glinda in a Feather-Trimmed Gown

Ariana Grande wore a pink dress to the SAG Awards on Sunday. But as Oscar week begins, the Wicked actress gave her Glinda-themed look a makeover in a darker palette.

Last night at the annual Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, Grande wore a black column gown by Yves Saint Laurent featuring a pink feather trim at the neckline. She kept her accessories minimal so the dress could take the spotlight.

Grande has a nomination for a Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Academy Awards. It’s her first-ever Oscar nomination. When the news was announced, the star had trouble keeping her composure.

She wrote on Instagram, “Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition. I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise. I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny Ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. I’m so proud of you, tiny. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for this acknowledgement @theacademy.”

Her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, has a Best Actress in a Leading Role nomination. Grande told Variety that it “feels like we were passed the wand and broom by Kristin and Idina Menzel. They were nominated for the Tonys together, and now Cynthia and I get to have this recognition together.”
