Where were the Kumbia Kings cancelled due to the Cruz Martinez case?

The musical group led by Cruz Martínez, the famous Kumbia Kings, will not perform at the Carnival in Tampico, Tamaulipas, as announced by Mayor Mónica Villarreal a few days ago.

According to local media, the authorities decided to remove the group from the event due to the recent accusations made by singer Alicia Villarreal against Cruz Martínez, who was accused by his still wife of alleged violence.

"Out of respect for equality, for the rights of each of our women and because we condemn acts of violence against any of us , we decided to cancel the contract with this group (Kumbia Kings) and bring in another," the mayor said at a press conference.

Later, Monica Villarreal posted a video on her social networks to reiterate her decision, because the acts allegedly committed by Cruz Martínez violate his principles.

"This decision is motivated by facts that we cannot ignore . The allegations are clear and have been publicly reported on multiple occasions, highlighting situations that violate the dignity and respect of women," said the mayor.

The Kumbia Kings had been announced as the band in charge of closing the Tampico Carnival festivities and would offer a concert on March 2. However, instead, the group La Firma will take their place.

So far, Cruz Martínez has denied his wife's allegations against him; Meanwhile, Alicia Villarreal confirmed the complaint and left the case in the hands of the authorities.
