Although several years have passed since the COVID-19 health crisis, which affected many people in different parts of the world, the disease continues to mutate and spread through new variants.
On this occasion, doctors in the United Kingdom and India identified that the virus has the Nimbus , a new version that may be responsible for the increasing number of cases in some countries and causes an unusual symptom.

This new variant has been dubbed “razor throat” because it causes irritation in the muscular tube in the neck that begins behind the nose and ends at the top of the trachea and esophagus.
According to reports from professionals in some local media, this condition is also accompanied by the discomfort of other COVID-19 mutations, such as fever, chills, cough, difficulty breathing, and loss of taste or smell.
However, experts believe there is no need to worry about the Nimbus virus for now. While it can cause health problems, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that, of the cases reported in May, the new variant of the virus was only found in 11 percent of the samples.
In this regard, the United Nations agency determined that the "razor throat" variant is under-monitored , and is therefore not considered a global public health risk, as previously thought.

The cases recorded by Nimbus have occurred most frequently in the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, and the Western Pacific, but some prefer to take precautions to reduce the risk.
It's important to keep in mind that both COVID-19 and the common cold are caused by viruses. However, there are some differences in the symptoms they affect the body.

To identify which of these two is affecting a person's health, it's necessary to check for muscle pain, unbearable sore throat, fatigue, fever, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath, as this may indicate a high probability of having coronavirus.
If the symptoms are more related to sneezing, congestion, runny nose, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting , it may be a common cold, but to rule out any suspicions, it is always best to consult a professional.
