The Colombian Youth Philharmonic Orchestra turns 15 and celebrates with concerts in four cities across the country.

With the presentation of the Fifth Symphony by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, conducted by renowned Colombian maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the Colombian Youth Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates its 15th anniversary.
With a concert tour, which they have named '#LaJoven 15 Years: together we orchestrate this story', they will tour Barranquilla (August 1), Medellín (August 2), Bucaramanga (August 3) and Bogotá (August 4).
For the performances, it will bring together 90 musicians, including graduates and new talents, of different ages and from various regions.
The Youth Philharmonic will present a revamped version of this work, which premiered during the 2023 European tour. Now, it returns to become the artistic centerpiece of the celebration. "Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 invites us to reflect on the value of individuality and the power of freedom of artistic expression, and the eternal message of freedom that prevails against all adversity," the institution explains in a statement.
The orchestra was founded by the Bolívar Group through the Bolívar Davivienda Foundation. The group has become "a trusted network in which children, young people, prominent artists, educators, soloists, conductors, and cultural managers from the regions and internationally have developed their potential to create and connect with others in the design of all possible futures for classical music and Colombian youth."

In 15 years, the group has accumulated 170 concerts with more than 3 million attendees . “The Bolívar Davivienda Foundation, together with its strong partners, has managed to strengthen and energize the cultural, musical, and social ecosystems in the regions that have seen the rise of a new generation of artists with greater social awareness and comprehensive training, which has allowed for the creation of a network of trust that drives social and cultural innovation in the country. Celebrating fifteen years of #LaJoven is a recognition of the efforts made by the entire country to demonstrate that Colombia is a global powerhouse in symphonic music,” says Juan Andrés Rojas, Young Talent Manager of the Bolívar Davivienda Foundation and Executive Director of the Colombian Youth Philharmonic.
