Studies show that drinking soda contributes to hair loss

Alopecia is the abnormal loss of hair, better known as baldness, and it can affect the scalp or other areas where there is hair, such as eyelashes, armpits, beard , among others, according to the University of Navarra Clinic.
While it is true that there are people in whom this may be hereditary, a study carried out by researchers at Tsinghua University in Beijing and published in the journal 'Nutrients', showed that drinking sugary drinks a day could increase the risk of men going bald.
Those who consume these types of soft drinks daily have a high chance of experiencing hair loss compared to those who avoid them.
Researchers found that sugary drinks may contribute to this condition, as excess sugar causes insulin resistance, a problem that impairs blood circulation and can damage hair follicles.
According to data collected by scientists, half of men tend to lose their hair by the age of 50, and 25 percent of them begin to see the first signs of hair loss before the age of 21.

“Chronic illness and death are so distant for young people that they are unwilling to give up the satisfaction provided by sugary drinks for the sake of their long-term health ,” the study authors said.
This is what other studies show. While this has raised some eyebrows, Neena Chandrasekaran, a specialist in molecular medicine and intensive care in Florida, USA, warned that not only do sugary drinks contribute to hair loss, but also to anxiety in men.
In a video she shared on her TikTok account, where she has approximately 152,000 followers, she spoke out about products that are often loaded with sugar and additives that can disrupt the balance of hormones within the body.

“High caffeine content can increase levels of the stress hormone cortisol, while excess sugar is linked to poor circulation and inflammation, which can weaken hair follicles and increase hair loss ,” Chandrasekaran said.
She further explained that the combination of high cortisol and sugar levels can trigger stress, which leads to hair loss, as it creates more inflammation and this can overstimulate the nervous system.
“If you notice that you are losing more hair and feeling more anxious, stop using these products ,” said the specialist.
On the other hand, Ohio State University dermatology expert Susan Massick said that diet plays a key role in overall health and that can cause not only hair loss, but also obesity, diabetes and hypertension.
