Miley Cyrus confesses why she doesn't want to tour with her latest album: "It's very hard to be sober."

Staying away from alcohol is Miley Cyrus 's new religion. "Sobriety is like my God. I need it, I live for it. It's changed my whole life," the singer said last May. And as she now declared in an interview on Good Morning America , touring is more or less the same as sinning.
"I have the physical ability and the opportunities to tour. I wish I had the desire to tour, but I don't. Also, I don't think there's an infrastructure to support artists," the former Disney star stated while presenting her new album, 'Something Beautiful.'
"Artists like Prince lived such an intense lifestyle on tour… It's very difficult to maintain sobriety when you're on tour, which is a fundamental pillar of my stability," the artist said, while acknowledging that it's not easy to start a new life away from toxic revelry. "It's really hard because, especially when you're young, there's this stigma that 'you're not fun anymore.' It's like, 'Honey, you can call me a lot of things, but I know I'm fun.'"
What Miley Cyrus “really” enjoys about sobriety “is being able to wake up feeling 100% all the time,” she says. “I don’t want to wake up dizzy. I want to wake up feeling ready.” And above all, she assures that this is essential on tour because of the intense emotions involved. “You have thousands of people screaming at you. You get a dopamine rush and feel so much love, but you completely collapse at the end of the show . You start to think that it’s not enough for just one person to love you. It has to be 10,000, 80,000!”
In any case, the road isn't what fascinates Cyrus most about her job, as she acknowledged in 2023: "This has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans, it's just that I don't want to spend all day in a dressing room or sleep on a moving bus ."
Beyond the inconveniences of touring the world, her health is what most motivates Cyrus to stay home. The artist has spoken many times about her drug problems, which at times spiraled dangerously out of control. During the recording of her 2015 experimental album, "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz," she hid her drug expenses from her accountant by disguising them as purchases of high-end vintage clothing . Seeing checks for thousands of dollars, he would ask her about specific items, such as a supposedly original John Lennon T-shirt valued at $15,000. Miley replied that it was kept in a safe because of its sensitivity.
When she decided to lead a healthier life, she first quit cannabis in 2017. "I've been three weeks without smoking marijuana, the longest I've ever gone without it," she told the publication at the time. "I don't do drugs, I don't drink, I'm completely clean right now. It was something I just wanted to do," she said.
But during the coronavirus pandemic, she relapsed into alcohol abuse , undergoing another tough withdrawal process in 2020. It was in June of that same year that Miley declared that she had begun a "healthy" life and was "sober" after undergoing vocal cord surgery. "It's been really important for me over the last year to live a sober lifestyle because I really wanted to hone my craft," she told Variety magazine.
On July 19, Miley Cyrus performed in front of 150,000 people alongside Beyoncé at the Stade de France in Paris (where the French national team and PSG play their biggest games) as part of her 'Cowboy Carter' tour. Cyrus took the stage to sing a duet of '2 Most Wanted'. " Feeling Beyoncé's passion and energy was a victory for me , not in the physical sense of a trophy that you put on a shelf, it feels like a real victory," she says of the experience.
Following the release of her new album, 'Something Beautiful: The Full Length Visual Album' has also been released on Hulu and Disney+. This accompanying visual experience for the album of the same name is comprised of 13 songs that showcase a world steeped in 1960s European cinema, blending a noir-inspired cinematic style with a punk aesthetic.
