Are the owners of the Earth crazy?

Strictly opinion pieces that reflect the author's unique style. These opinion pieces must be based on verified data and be respectful of individuals, even if their actions are criticized. All opinion columns by individuals outside the EL PAÍS editorial team will include, after the last line, a byline—no matter how well-known the author may be—indicating their position, title, political affiliation (if applicable), or main occupation, or any that is or was related to the topic addressed.

I distrust or have little to say about people who continually introduce the words "story," "toxic," and the Anglo-Saxon term "lawfare" into their emphatic language. Tomorrow they'll use other terms dictated by fashion. I'm also exhausted by so many people who are perfectly settled in politics, with permanent jobs if they don't manage terribly, who claim to lose sleep constantly thinking about the vulnerable.
They've also recently expressed their absolute concern for the mental health of the staff. I think they're frequently referring to the poor suicidal people, the desperate ones who no longer have the strength or desire to endure their misery. I hope psychology and psychiatry can help them, give back to those who want to kill themselves the desire to stay here, but I doubt its effectiveness. Those people who are determined to leave here for good do so. They don't fail in repeated attempts that are appeals to the compassion of others. It's tragic. But may they rest in peace. And may the laws make this excruciating process easier for them. You have to be truly miserable to call them cowards or to deny euthanasia to those suffering unimaginably from their fatal illnesses.
And what are the symptoms and parameters for measuring mental illness? Are most of the rulers of the universe sane? I shudder at the photograph showing the alliance and camaraderie between Putin, the president of China, and the grotesque fellow who governs North Korea. And you look the other way, with Trump and Netanyahu , in their savage crusade against evil, and the terror is absolute. They are the masters of the Earth, the ones who decide the life and death of so many people. Are psychiatrists going to evaluate whether these beings are sane or suffer from persistent mental illness? No science will certify that the richest people on Earth are insane either. At the expense of the misery of so many others. I admit that, except for periods in childhood and other periods in adult life when I confirmed that splendor in the grass could be real, my mental health is frequently impaired. But I never expect help from the philanthropic State. I manage as best I can. What I like most, for far too long, is sleeping.
