A 20-year-old woman suffered multiple facial fractures after skating: one wheel failed and the impact devastated her.

“A split-second decision changed my life.” That's how Sol, a 20-year-old skater , sums up the accident that left her with multiple facial fractures, partial vision loss, and serious emotional scars.

On social media, he shares his recovery process following the incident he suffered on May 28, 2025 , in an area of Mar del Plata where he used to skate. He also shared his story through local media outlets.

Like so many other times, Sol went out in the afternoon to skate, an activity she practiced frequently and masterfully.

"I saw a hill and decided to go down it. It was nothing new to me. I was controlled; I knew I was going to do well," he told Channel 8.

But as I approached a curve, everything went haywire: "The right wheel swerved. I had to choose between jumping into the sea, onto the rocks, or hitting a parked car. I chose the car, thinking it was the safest option."

The impact was brutal. He lost consciousness and suffered severe injuries : a fractured orbital bone, a broken nose, split gums, eight damaged teeth, and exposed roots and nerves.

"My eye and teeth fell out, and no one did anything," she said. Only a young man helped her, keeping her from falling asleep.

“I couldn't breathe through my nose, I couldn't chew, or drink liquids without choking,” he explained.

She was rushed to a hospital, where she reported having been stripped naked without consent in front of other patients.

She received more than 40 stitches on her face and vomited blood while they tried to stabilize her.

Her diagnosis required immediate surgery with titanium plates, but the public health system estimated it would take more than a year to provide them.

The bones were so damaged that they didn't know where to place the plates.

Furthermore, the dental damage was classified as a "cosmetic" procedure , so the hospital did not cover it.

In response to the emergency, friends, family, and strangers started donation drives and raffles . In less than 48 hours, they raised more than 4 million Argentine pesos (about 13 million Colombian pesos), which allowed them to purchase the plates and move forward with the surgery .

The procedure was complex. “The bones were so damaged that they didn't know where to place the plates,” she explained. They even considered transferring her to Buenos Aires.

She finally had surgery, but is still recovering from infections and difficulties speaking, eating, and sleeping .

Three days before the accident, he had lost his job, so the expenses resulting from the accident have generated a significant financial burden.

The situation brought her closer to her family again. “ I haven't spoken to my mom in four years. Now she sleeps with me every night to take care of me,” she shared through tears.
