65th Anniversary: Juan Agustín Maza University celebrated his educational career and legacy in Mendoza

Families, graduates, faculty, and students gathered for an evening filled with excitement and memories. The auditorium was filled with hugs, smiles, and applause, reflecting the academic pride of those who are part of Juan Agustín Maza University . In the front rows, the flag bearers and escorts prepared for the solemn exchange of insignia, accompanied by their loved ones, who never stopped cheering them on during this special moment.

The institution's highest authorities sat in the middle rows, surrounded by colleagues and friends who also joined in the celebration. Promptly at 7:00 p.m. , announcers Antonio Ginart and Rozana Lopresti welcomed those present, marking the beginning of a gala steeped in history, symbolism, and emotion.
Rector Daniel Miranda spoke with Los Andes and highlighted the importance of this date: " The 65th anniversary is very important because it represents a long journey, a long journey for the university, and it also represents recognition for those who were the pioneers, the visionaries, and who made it possible to reach this stage. I believe that this act of honor and celebration of the 65th anniversary is also a recognition for all those who have preceded us and were able to witness those 65 years of education."

The event began with a warm greeting to all those present and the solemn act of changing the flag , a symbolic gesture that marks the beginning of a new academic year. The audience was then entertained with an artistic intervention that began with an instrumental performance and continued with the interpretation of the lyrical singers Gloria López and Griselda López Zalba , who offered a repertoire that included classics such as Habanera from Carmen by Georges Bizet, Flower Duet from Lakmé by Léo Delibes, and Toast (Libiamo ne' lieti calici) from La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi.
The university, headquartered in Guaymallén, is named after Juan Agustín Maza, a defender of education, independence, and patriotic values, born on May 4, 1784. It was in commemoration of his birth that the founding act that gave rise to the institution was signed on May 4, 1960.

They were invited onto the stage to kick off the flag-changing ceremony. The outgoing flag bearers and escorts entered by faculty and lined up to sing the verses of the Argentine national anthem . Following this, the students with high GPAs and those who have the academic privilege of carrying each faculty's flag took their places. The outstanding students on the honor roll were also mentioned for their final GPAs.

The event also served as a platform to reaffirm the university's international ties. Representing the Universidad Privada San Juan Bautista de Perú , Dr. José Luis Elías Ávalos , Founding President and current Congressman of the Republic of Peru , presented an institutional recognition and a commemorative award from the Peruvian Congress . The official document highlighted:
"Extend the greetings and congratulations of the Congress of the Republic of Peru to the university community, as we commemorate the 65th anniversary of the founding of Juan Agustín Maza University in Mendoza, Argentina, on May 4, 2025."

Rector Miranda also highlighted the progress made in internationalization : " We have signed agreements with several foreign universities, including those in Chile and Brazil. We are very pleased because this also contributes to the internationalization process. It is open to all programs, programs related to health sciences, social sciences and communications, everything related to surveying engineering, oenology, education, and specifically physical education. We have multiple programs to choose from."
Thus, this special evening became a celebration of present achievements and great future challenges, reaffirming Juan Agustín Maza University 's commitment to comprehensive education and the training of new generations .
