"We continue to seek equality," said Cazzu when presenting her book.

The Argentine singer Julieta Cazzuchelli, better known as Cazzu or La Jefa del Trap , stated that it is still "idealistic" to think that women will one day stop being feminists , since "we continue to search for equality" , which is why in her book Perreo, a revolution she answers whether the genre and the industry to which she has dedicated her life are "machista".

The artist presented this first essay in Mexico City , where she argued that many people still think that "feminism is an angry horde of women trying to destroy the world, when in reality we are a women's movement seeking equal conditions ."

For Cazzu, the reflection on gender is also present in some of the lyrics of trap or reggaeton , because "the women who inhabit these songs" are the "most seductive of utopias."

" I wish we could be one of them, a woman who ends the night whenever she wants, without fear of being torn to pieces , who exercises her right to sex without worrying about social condemnation," she writes in her work published by Reservoir Books.

At a conference attended by women, Cazzu emphasized that this "collaborative" text—which features the voices of her urban genre colleagues like Tokischa and Villano Antillano— is also for men, and she hopes to dispel the "mistaken perception" that this book is a message of "hate" for them, because this perreo is "a revolution for all of us."

As one of the most emblematic pioneers of Spanish-speaking mainstream trap , Cazzu, 31, acknowledged that in these musical ecosystems the male figure predominates , so "it is an arduous struggle to invite men" to these readings and to the music created by women.

The Argentine even confessed that in this book she explains that "desire" she had for her music to be heard by "men" ; a thought that in the first chapters leads her to question, for example, if in the lyrics of "Gasolina" (2004) by Daddy Yankee there is sexual consent, or if in "Yo perreo sola" (2020), Bad Bunny makes invisible the voice of Nesi, a Puerto Rican singer.

The rapper said that writing began before becoming a mother and that it was "cathartic," although it was never "without the help of others," since the support of her friends and the admiration for icons of the genre such as Karol G or Anitta are present in the almost 200 pages of the work.

Regarding pain management and resilience in the face of criticism she has received for expressing nothing more than her "freedom," the singer mentioned that at first the pain is tremendous , but later that "feeling subsides."

" I learned to be strong (...) in those moments when my body was boiling without knowing what to do, but I chose to endure it and then I realized how valuable it is to transform the feeling," concluded the 'trapera'.
