One enjoys listening to American and English journalists when they report from their own world. After all, they have been considered role models in Europe long before Bernstein and Woodward exposed the Watergate scandal and subsequently ousted Richard Nixon from his presidency. In many areas—including independence, ethical standards, and the culture of fact-checking —the Anglo-Saxon journalists have done pioneering work, thus doing nothing but good for the reputation of the profession.
